MMCC to St. Charles
Even though it is not time to drive a Corvette for a fun trip, we can still enjoy the season. We had ten members that went to Fast Lane Classic Cars in St. Charles. While there we enjoyed looking at all the classic cars and corvettes that are for sale. The gift shop and showroom were very interesting with all the auto memorabilia and vintage decorations. However, our group seemed to gravitate around a rough looking 1959 Corvette. After all our speculation focusing on the imperfections, and then on all the possibilities on what it could be, we proceeded to see the salesman to see if we could buy it. Much to our disappointment, we found out it is a customer’s car and was not for sale. This happened to be their daily driver to and from work!!
From there we had some lunch at the Old Mill Stream Inn. A very nice quaint place where we could have some food and fun sitting and visiting.
After lunch we strolled down the old Main St. There were many shops and antique buildings to see. At the north end of Main Street the ice carvers were busy at work. There were carvings of rams, alligators, clowns, and many other works of art in ice.
All had a great time and the weather was perfect. We were joined by Craig and Ellen’s son from the area and by Erin Pauley who also lives in the area.
